Select the illustration and go directly to the story to read more about what Pearl has been up to! Except for the first two you see below, each picture is an active link!

Pearl is an amazingly versatile character. Often I’m absolutely sure that there is nothing she can’t do. Lately, I’ve been imagining her as a film noir detective.

This weekend, we worked on an assortment of illustrations to stitch together and form a story plot. We call it The Night of the Dark Alley Fox. Be on the lookout for an official post about this story and the accompanying illustrations!

Yes, there is something curiously amazing about Pearl in this illustration! We will be sharing more about it soon!

Pearl is always on the lookout for The Perfect Spot,
and this is it—you found it!

Pearl as a Southern Church Lady Chicken

Pearl has considered herself to be many things. One of her favorites has been a Southern Church Lady because Pearl loves making hats (and who knows more about wearing hats than a Southern Church Lady?).

Pearl as a Mystery Sleuth like Sherlock Holmes

Pearl has a very questioning mind, and so she enjoys solving a good mystery. As a Sleuth, she often needs to wear a disguise, and a disguise with a matching hat is just about her favorite of all!

Pearl as a Ninja Chicken fighting for what is true and right for chickens and people.

Although Pearl has never believed that problems are solved through violence, when she discovered that she could perform an incredibly strong Flying Ninja Kick, she did reconsider her stand when it comes to anyone and anything that treatens the lives of chickens or people.

Our Next Projects for Our Readers!

Yes, working on three new books is rather ambitions, but you may remember how very stubborn and persistent My Girl Pearl can be! Once she has set her heart on a project, she will not rest until it is completed!

The Unabridged Dictionary of the Chicken Language by author and lexicographer Nathaniel Elliot may be treated as a companion book to the series The Dictionary of Curious Words by author and illustrator J. R. Spiers. It uses notebooks and sketchbooks found in a shoebox bearing the word “Gracie” in the Author’s attic. He did his best to reconstruct the story of how the lives of six amazing hens and one amazing rooster had transformed the life of the one who loved them.

The Dictionary of Curious Words explains the story behind this compilation of all known words in the Chicken language. It also includes additional notes to encourage appreciation of this rich and ancient language. It does contain additional narrative about how the author and lexicographer, Nate Elliot, came to learn and appreciate the Chicken language so that there will be no doubt to the authenticity or accuracy of the curious words found in The Unabridged Dictionary of the Chicken Language.
